Sacred sites

Indigenous peoples' way of life is based on their close, often deeply spiritual relationship with the land (Earth). This relationship may be expressed in several ways, including the presence and maintenance of natural sacred or ceremonial sites - groves, trees, stones, rivers, lakes, etc. Such and other natural places are common to most indigenous peoples of the world.

From an indigenous point of view:

We, all indigenous peoples, have grown from a piece of Earth together with the trees, animals, plants and stones and we are connected to this piece of Earth, feel the need to stay there and have developed customs that, in the long run, let us live in peace and harmony with the environment. Now it is our job to remember those traditions and keep them alive, as well as keep alive our own unique cultures, languages, beliefs and sacred places.
